Skill gap analysis
The Role of Digital in the Future of the Non-Profit Sector
The non-profit world is going through a crucial moment: technology is no longer just a support, but the driving force that enables organizations to grow, innovate, and stay close to the communities they serve. Digital transformation brings new opportunities for inclusion and participation, but it also requires up-to-date skills and adequate tools to truly be effective.
This is why, with the Web in tech project, we decided to explore how Third Sector organizations are currently using technology and what their most urgent needs are in terms of training and support. Through surveys, interviews, and focus groups, we engaged professionals, volunteers, and local institutions, gaining a realistic snapshot of the daily challenges they face.
The data collected clearly highlight several key points: the need to improve online communication to reach diverse audiences, the importance of ensuring that digital tools are accessible to everyone, and the necessity of training staff who can competently manage both technical and strategic aspects.
These findings will form the basis for developing targeted training programs, designed not only to bridge existing gaps but also to open new pathways for social innovation. In this way, digital becomes a fundamental ally in making the non-profit sector stronger, more inclusive, and more sustainable.

Dissemination Event Report – W.E.B. in Tech
Rome, 30 November 2025 – Euro Mamme Headquarters
On Sunday, 30 November 2025, the headquarters of Euro Mamme in Rome hosted a warm and engaging dissemination event dedicated to the European project W.E.B. in Tech – Women Engagement Boost in Technology (ID 101183056). The event brought together project staff, local stakeholders, young women, community representatives, and organisations working in the fields of digital empowerment, social innovation, and inclusion.
The gathering was an opportunity to share the project’s progress, discuss its early achievements, and reflect together on the challenges and opportunities related to the digital and professional inclusion of young NEET women and mothers.
At the centre of the meeting were three key figures of the consortium:
Eloisa Casadei, Project Manager of Euro Mamme;
Tommaso Usseglio, Project Manager of SOS Europa;
and Mattia Di Tommaso, President of SOS Europa and long-standing partner of Euro Mamme’s initiatives.
Their presence symbolised the strong cooperation between the two organisations and the shared commitment to building accessible, high-impact pathways for women in vulnerable conditions.
Opening Reflections: Inclusion Starts With Listening
The event opened with a heartfelt introduction by Eloisa Casadei, who presented the mission of the project and emphasised the importance of placing women’s lived experiences at the centre of every training and support intervention. She reflected on the many barriers young mothers face when attempting to re-enter the labour market—from limited access to digital tools to the emotional weight of balancing family responsibilities with professional ambitions.
Her message resonated deeply with the audience: digital empowerment must be designed with empathy, flexibility, and real awareness of women’s daily challenges.
Presenting the Project’s Progress and Main Results
Following her introduction, Tommaso Usseglio guided participants through the project’s latest results. He highlighted the outcomes of the skill gap analysis, which revealed a clear and urgent need for more accessible, practical, and tailored digital training opportunities. He explained how the consortium used these insights to draft an innovative ICT training programme specifically shaped around the realities of NEET women and caregiving mothers.
Tommaso described the methodology behind the training modules—developed collaboratively in Malta—and illustrated how each one integrates both technical and transversal competences, ranging from digital communication to project management, organisational well-being, and professional resilience.
His presentation offered participants a clear picture of the strategic vision behind W.E.B. in Tech: bridging the gap between training and real job opportunities within the Third Sector.
A Vision for Change: The Social Impact of Digital Empowerment
The event continued with an intervention by Mattia Di Tommaso, President of SOS Europa, who broadened the conversation to the global relevance of women’s digital empowerment. He reminded the audience that the digital divide is not merely a technological issue—it is a social justice challenge.
Mattia highlighted how W.E.B. in Tech is building a replicable model capable of giving vulnerable women the tools, confidence, and support they need to transform their potential into concrete opportunities.
He also underlined the deep synergy between Euro Mamme and SOS Europa, both committed to designing accessible, inclusive learning environments that empower women to participate fully in today’s digital world.
His closing message was a call to action: investing in women’s digital skills means investing in stronger families, stronger communities, and a more equitable society.
A Space for Dialogue, Exchange, and Participation
After the formal presentations, the event transitioned into an open dialogue with the participants. Women from the local community shared personal reflections, concerns, and hopes regarding their future careers. Stakeholders expressed interest in collaborating on internships, mentorship activities, and outreach for the pilot training programme.
Many attendees emphasised the importance of creating safe, welcoming learning spaces where young mothers can gain not only technical competences but also confidence, motivation, and a sense of belonging.
The richness of the discussion confirmed once again that the co-creation approach adopted by Euro Mamme is essential for building programmes that truly meet the needs of their beneficiaries.
Looking Ahead: Towards the Pilot Course
Before closing, the organisers presented the upcoming launch of the free online pilot training course, which will involve 60 NEET women between the ages of 23 and 29. The audience responded enthusiastically, recognising the course as a real opportunity for women in the local community to approach digital work, social entrepreneurship, and Third Sector professions.
Participants were invited to stay connected with the project’s updates, contribute to outreach efforts, and support the recruitment process for the pilot group.
Conclusion
The dissemination event at Euro Mamme’s headquarters was more than just a presentation of project results—it was an intimate, constructive moment of community engagement. It brought together voices, experiences, and insights that will continue to shape W.E.B. in Tech in its next phases.
As the evening drew to a close, one message echoed above all:
empowering women means empowering society.
And W.E.B. in Tech is proving, step by step, that this transformation begins by giving every woman the chance to access knowledge, technology, and meaningful professional opportunities.

Dissemination Event – W.E.B. in Tech: Empowering NEET Women Through Digital Skills
Milano, 4 December 2025 – Spazio Pin, Viale Monte Santo 5
On the evening of 4 December 2025, the vibrant and contemporary atmosphere of Spazio Pin in Milan became the setting for another significant milestone in the journey of European cooperation: the dissemination event of the W.E.B. in Tech – Women Engagement Boost in Technology project (ID 101183056), funded by the Erasmus+ Programme under ERASMUS-EDU-2024-CB-VET.
From 17:00 to 21:00, more than fifty participants and stakeholders gathered to explore the project’s early achievements and discuss the collective effort required to strengthen the digital and professional inclusion of young NEET women and mothers. The event brought together educators, NGOs, digital trainers, Third Sector professionals, students, and representatives of organisations committed to women’s empowerment.
At the heart of the evening was Mora Di Tommaso, President of Euro Mamme, the Lead Partner of the project. Her presence embodied the mission that has guided Euro Mamme for years: promoting inclusion, strengthening women’s independence, and ensuring that vulnerable mothers have access not only to support—but to opportunities.
A Shared Commitment to Women’s Digital Empowerment
In her opening remarks, Mora Di Tommaso reflected on how technology has become a decisive factor in shaping the future of work, especially for women who face additional barriers linked to motherhood and caregiving responsibilities. She emphasised that digital skills are no longer optional; they are a gateway to autonomy, employability, and participation in a fast-changing labour market.
Her words resonated deeply with the audience, inviting all participants to consider the profound social transformation that W.E.B. in Tech aims to achieve: offering vulnerable young women the tools to reclaim their professional path and to see themselves, once again, as active contributors to society.
Presenting the First Project Results
The project team guided the audience through the first achievements of W.E.B. in Tech. The recently completed skill gap analysis, based on surveys, interviews and focus groups, provided a clear picture of the needs emerging from the Third Sector and from NEET women themselves. Many shared obstacles—digital illiteracy, lack of confidence, caregiving workloads, difficulty accessing devices—appear across different social contexts, underlining the urgency of creating inclusive, flexible and supportive training pathways.
The presentation also offered a preview of the upcoming ICT training modules, designed by the consortium during the June meeting in Malta. These modules will equip young women with essential digital competences, such as communication and web tools, project management, organisational well-being, and adaptability—skills that are increasingly demanded in the Third Sector and social entrepreneurship.
A Space for Dialogue and Co-Creation
As the evening progressed, the event transformed into a lively exchange of ideas and experiences. Participants shared their perspectives on the challenges faced by young mothers, the structural barriers they encounter, and the importance of designing training programmes that reflect their real needs.
Mora Di Tommaso led a heartfelt conversation on the necessity of recognising motherhood not as an obstacle but as a source of resilience and talent. She encouraged organisations to co-design services with women, not for women, ensuring that their voices are central in shaping solutions.
The audience responded enthusiastically, highlighting the importance of flexible learning environments, peer-support communities, and personalised career guidance—elements that W.E.B. in Tech is already integrating into its pilot programme.
Looking Toward the Pilot Course and Future Opportunities
One of the most anticipated moments of the evening was the announcement of the upcoming free online training course, which will soon open enrolments for 60 NEET women aged 23–29. The programme will combine:
- professional digital training,
- personalised career services,
- and practical tools for employment in the Third Sector.
Stakeholders expressed strong interest in collaborating, offering internships, contributing to mentoring, and supporting the dissemination of the upcoming call for participants. The enthusiasm in the room confirmed the project’s ability to mobilise a community committed to creating meaningful opportunities for women who are too often left behind.
A Step Forward for Euro Mamme and the European Partnership
The Milan dissemination event concluded with a warm moment of networking among participants, who continued exchanging ideas about how to foster innovation and inclusion within the Third Sector.
In her closing words, Mora Di Tommaso reaffirmed the commitment of Euro Mamme to leading this transformative project:
“We want to build a future where no woman feels excluded because she is a mother, because she lacks digital tools, or because she has momentarily stepped out of the labour market. W.E.B. in Tech exists to reopen doors—and to give dignity, confidence and opportunity back to women who deserve it.”
The evening at Spazio Pin marked an important step toward a more inclusive digital future.
A future where young women and mothers, regardless of their background, can access the skills, support networks and professional opportunities they need to thrive.
