IL PROGETTO

Il progetto You(th) will be Free ha l’ obiettivo di migliorare la qualità dell’animazione socioeducativa nei paesi dell’area MENA (Middle East and North Africa), affinché possa diventare uno strumento di riabilitazione sociale per giovani ex-detenuti o giovani a forte rischio di criminalità, offrendo loro la possibilità di intraprendere la carriera di animatori socioeducativi e trovare così un lavoro dignitoso.

Si lavorerà su tre obiettivi specifici:

1. Aumentare le competenze specifiche di 24 animatori socioeducativi dalle 8 associazioni del partenariato in materia di psicologia, pedagogia della devianza, mediazione culturale;
2. Far conoscere ai giovani ex-detenuti o ad alto rischio di criminalità dalle aree del Mediterraneo e dell’area MENA la professione dell’animatore socioeducativo, i suoi obiettivi, gli sbocchi professionali, le capacità e competenze necessarie;
3. Sviluppare un programma pilota di formazione per 9 giovani ex-detenuti per farli diventare youth workers e role models, e far sì che a loro volta si incarichino della formazione di altri giovani e così via. Questo programma pilota sarà ripetuto, in scala ridotta, in tutti i paesi del partenariato, fino a coinvolgere 30 giovani da 8 paesi diversi (Italia, Grecia, Malta, Macedionia del Nord, Siria, Giordania, Egitto, Tunisia).

Le attività che si andranno ad implemetare sono:

• Un corso di formazione per formatori;
• Un workshop per giovani ex-detenuti e giovani ad alto rischio di criminalità;
• Un corso di formazione e job shadowing per ex-detenuti per avviarli alla professione di youth workers.

Gli outputs di progetto saranno:

1. Un manuale specifico per youth workers sul tema della formazione ai giovani a forte rischio di criminalità;
2. Un report sulla figura dello youth worker nei paesi dell’area MENA;
3. Un percorso formativo scalabile e ripetibile in diversi contesti.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The project You(th) will be Free aims to enhance the quality of youthwork in the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) countries so it can become a tool for social rehabilitation for young former inmates or youth at high risk of criminality, offering them the opportunity to pursue a career as socio-educational animators and thus find dignified employment.

It will focus on three specific objectives:

1. Enhancing the specific skills of 24 socio-educational animators from the 8 partnership associations in psychology, deviant pedagogy, and cultural mediation.
2. Introducing the profession of socio-educational animator, its objectives, career prospects, and necessary skills and competencies to young former inmates or those at high risk of criminality from the Mediterranean and MENA regions.
3. Developing a pilot training program for 9 young former inmates to become youth workers and role models, empowering them to train other young people and so on. This pilot program will be replicated, on a smaller scale, in all partnership countries, involving 30 young people from 8 different countries (Italy, Greece, Malta, North Macedonia, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Tunisia).

The project activities will include:

1. A training course for trainers.
2. A workshop for young former inmates and youth at high risk of criminality.
3. A training course and job shadowing for former inmates to start them on the path to becoming youth workers.

The project outputs will be:

1. A specific manual for youth workers on training young people at high risk of criminality.
2. A report on the role of the youth worker in MENA countries.
3. A scalable and replicable training pathway in various contexts.

SOS EUROPA è una associazione di promozione sociale con sede a Roma, nata dall’entusiasmo dei suoi volontari per i valori europei avente come missione primaria il sostegno
all’integrazione dei giovani dentro e fuori l’Unione Europea.
SOS Europa promuove e incoraggia lo scambio di culture, conoscenze ed esperienze, è molto attiva nel programma quadro Erasmus+ sia come ente applicante che come partner in scambi e progetti internazionali.
Inoltre, da diversi anni diffonde le politiche europee a livello locale e nazionale grazie ai numerosi corsi che organizza, a cui prendono parte persone di differenti realtà che lavorano a contatto con i giovani provenienti da tutto il territorio nazionale. SOS Europa da diversi anni lavora a Roma e nel resto d’Italia per diffondere i valori promossi dall’Unione come l’uguaglianza, la non discriminazione, il contrasto alle violenze e l’effettività dei diritti fondamentali dell’uomo. SOS Europa è stata, come accade in molte realtà di volontariato, incubatore di esempi virtuosi di integrazione sociale con riferimento a categorie a forte rischio di esclusione sociale come gli immigrati e donne provenienti da contesti rurali.

Gli obiettivi promossi dall’associazione sono:

• promuovere la partecipazione alla vita democratica in Europa e al mercato del lavoro, la
  cittadinanza attiva, il dialogo interculturale, la solidarietà;
• accrescere la dimensione internazionale delle attività nel settore della gioventù e il ruolo
  degli animatori socioeducativi (Youth Workers) e delle organizzazioni giovanili quali strutture
  di sostegno per i giovani;
• contrastare la violenza e le discriminazioni perpetrate in ogni sua forma con particolare
  focus sui target particolarmente a rischio come gli immigrati, i disabili e le persone LGBTQI;
• integrare le riforme politiche a livello locale, regionale e nazionale e sostenere lo sviluppo di
  una politica in materia di gioventù basata sulla conoscenza e su dati concreti;
• favorire il riconoscimento dell’apprendimento non formale e informale, in particolare
  mediante una cooperazione politica rafforzata;
• sostenere l’imprenditorialità e l’occupabilità dei giovani, equipaggiandoli con le competenze
  richieste dal mercato del lavoro young people by equipping them with the skills demanded by the labor market.

La sua missione è promuove la pace, la giustizia sociale ed economica, l’uguaglianza e la
garanzia dei diritti di cittadinanza, la parità di genere, la democrazia e la partecipazione dal basso,
l’inclusione sociale e il dialogo interculturale.
SOS Europa conta sulla presenza di 20 membri di staff stabili che prestano attività remunerata
regolarmente, più altri 10 collaboratori esterni. Inoltre, SOS Europa si avvale del supporto di c.a.150
volontari attivi in diversi settori e realtà.
SOS Europa è cresciuta rapidamente e negli ultimi anni ha mostrato di avere grandi capacità
organizzative e gestionali di progetti complessi, come è emerso dall’ultimo progetto in fase di
implementazione “Young leaders International Meeting” (27/31 ottobre 2017), presentato nell’ambito
del programma quadro Erasmus plus- azione chiave 3, ma soprattutto ha mostrato l’efficienza del
network che ha creato, non solo a livello internazionale.

SOS EUROPA is an independent social promotion association based in Rome, born from the enthusiasm of its volunteers for European values, with its primary mission being to support the integration of young people within and outside the European Union.

SOS EUROPA has always promoted and encouraged the exchange of cultures, knowledge, and experiences. For this reason, it is very active in the Erasmus+ framework, both as an applicant for projects and as a partner in exchanges and international projects. Additionally, for several years, it has been disseminating European policies at the local and national levels through numerous courses. These courses involve individuals from different backgrounds who work closely with young people from across the national territory.

For several years, SOS EUROPA has been working in Rome and throughout Italy to spread the values promoted by the European Union, such as equality, non-discrimination, combating violence, and the effectiveness of fundamental human rights. Like many volunteer organizations, SOS EUROPA has been an incubator of virtuous examples of social integration, particularly concerning categories at high risk of social exclusion, such as immigrants and women from rural backgrounds.

The objectives promoted by the association are as follows:

• Promoting participation in democratic life in Europe and the labor market, active citizenship, intercultural dialogue, and solidarity.
• Increasing the international dimension of activities in the youth sector and the role of socio-educational animators (Youth Workers) and youth organizations as support structures for young people.
• Combating violence and discrimination in all its forms, with a particular focus on high-risk targets such as immigrants, people with disabilities, and LGBTQIA+ individuals.
• Integrating political reforms at the local, regional, and national levels and supporting the development of youth policy based on knowledge and concrete data.
• Promoting the recognition of non-formal and informal learning, particularly through strengthened political cooperation.
• Supporting the entrepreneurship and employability of young people by equipping them with the skills demanded by the labor market.

Its mission is to promote peace, social and economic justice, equality, citizenship rights, gender equality, democracy, grassroots participation, social inclusion, and intercultural dialogue.

SOS EUROPA has 20 permanent staff members who regularly engage in paid activities, along with 10 external collaborators. Additionally, SOS Europa relies on the support of approximately 150 active volunteers in various sectors and contexts.

SOS EUROPA has experienced rapid growth and, in recent years, has demonstrated significant organizational and project management capabilities. This was evident in its latest project in the implementation phase, the “Young Leaders International Meeting” (October 27-31, 2017), presented within the framework of the Erasmus Plus Key Action 3. Importantly, it showcased the efficiency of the network it has created, not only at the international level.

INTERNATIONAL E-LEARNING INSTITUTE

IELI è un fornitore percorsi educativi internazionale che promuove, digitalizza e internazionalizza le università in tutto il mondo, offrendo agli studenti tutoraggio e assistenza lungo tutto il loro percorso educativo, e ora sta ottenendo l’accreditamento come Istituto di Istruzione Superiore a Malta al fine di offrire i propri corsi di livello universitario. L’obiettivo è quello di offrire i propri corsi universitari in aree altamente tecnologiche e professionalizzanti come IT, Cybersecurity, Imprenditorialità, Biotecnologie e Design Avanzato – tutti online su una piattaforma unica e aggiornata, facilmente accessibile da qualsiasi parte del mondo. Il personale di IELI ha un’esperienza di 15 anni nel campo dell’orientamento e del tutoraggio degli studenti. Inoltre, può vantare numerosi collaboratori in tutto il territorio in cui opera, ognuno scelto attentamente in base alla propria esperienza, rete di contatti, attitudine imprenditoriale e visione per il progetto.

IELI is an international educational provider that promotes, digitizes, and internationalizes universities worldwide, offering students tutoring and assistance throughout their educational journey. It is currently undergoing accreditation as a Higher Education Institute in Malta to offer its own university-level courses. The aim is to offer courses in highly technological and professionalizing areas such as IT, Cybersecurity, Entrepreneurship, Biotechnology, and Advanced Design – all online on a unique and updated platform, easily accessible from anywhere in the world. IELI’s staff has 15 years of experience in the field of student orientation and tutoring. Additionally, it boasts numerous collaborators across the territories it operates in, each carefully chosen based on their experience, network, entrepreneurial attitude, and vision for the project.

YOUTH HORIZON

Youth Horizons (YoHo) è un’organizzazione non-profit e non governativa situata a Megara, Grecia, una città storica sul mare. YoHo è stata fondata nel 2014 con l’obiettivo di sostenere e concretizzare le idee, i bisogni e le iniziative della nostra comunità giovanile. La priorità di YoHo è offrire l’opportunità ai giovani, alle persone con minori opportunità e a coloro che si sentono e agiscono come giovani di acquisire esperienze che amplino i loro orizzonti sia a livello locale che all’estero (attività volontarie, educative, sociali, culturali, ambientali, interattive e sportive). YoHo, basandosi sulla comprensione della diversità e mobilità europea e internazionale, consente ai giovani di partecipare ad attività all’estero come: scambi giovanili, corsi di formazione, APV, CME, SVE, ecc. Youth Horizons (YoHo) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization in Megara, Greece, a historical
seaside town. YoHo was founded in 2014 in order to support and materialize the ideas, needs and
initiatives of our youth community. Priority of YoHo is to give the opportunity to young people, people with
fewer opportunities and people who feel and act as young to gain experiences that expand their horizons
both abroad and in local level (volunteering, educative, social, cultural, environmental, athletic interactive
activities). YoHo, by having as its benchmark the understanding of the European and International
diversity and mobility, enables young people to participate in activities abroad such as: youth exchanges,
training courses, apv, cme, evs etc. Through their co-existence with young people from different cultures,
the involved people share ideas, goals, knowledge, concerns, traditions and gain skills and competences
essential for their life paths. Furthermore, they develop the way of thinking and acting in their societies
and expand their spiritual and experiential horizons… their ‘Youth Horizons’.

ASSOCIATION FOR PROGRESS, EDUCATION AND LOBBYING

Association for progress, education and lobbying PEL Skopje, da qui in avanti indicato anche con l’acronimo PEL è da anni attiva nel settore della gioventù per contribuire all’effettività dei diritti promossi dalla Commissione Europea, soprattutto con riferimento ai soggetti con minori opportunità, per questo investe tante energie nella formazione e nel riconoscimento della figura dell’animatore come concreto fattore di cambiamento sociale. Tra i diversi contributi dati nel tema, troviamo il progetto Youth Workers International Networks, del programma Erasmus+, 608525-EPP-1-2019-1-IT-EPPKA2-CBY-ACPALA promosso col supporto di A.T.I.C. Lo scopo del progetto è quindi quello di aumentare la leadership degli operatori giovanili, attraverso lo scambio di buone pratiche tra organizzazioni e associazioni europee ed extraeuropee, laddove, per creare un percorso efficiente di educazione in questo campo è fondamentale creare una solida rete tra organizzazioni di diversi paesi supportando soprattutto i paesi terzi in questo lungo percorso di sviluppo delle proprie capacità regionali.

Association for progress, education and lobbying PEL Skopje, henceforth also referred to by the acronym PEL has for years been active in the youth sector to contribute to the effectiveness of the rights promoted by the European Commission, especially with reference to those with fewer opportunities, for this invests so much energy in the training and recognition of the figure of the animator as a concrete factor of social change. Among the various contributions made in the theme, we find the project Youth Workers International Networks, of the Erasmus+ program, 608525-EPP-1-2019-1-IT-EPPKA2-CBY-ACPALA promoted with the support of A.T.I.C. Thus, the aim of the project is to increase the leadership of youth workers, through the exchange of best practices among European and non-European, where, in order to create an efficient path of education in this field it is essential to create a strong network between organizations from different countries by supporting especially non-EU countries in this long path of developing their regional capacities.

Support Youth Leaders (SYL) Un’organizzazione nata per supportare e sviluppare attività sul territorio locale, nazionale e internazionale attraverso metodologie di inclusione non formale, utilizzando il tempo libero, la pratica culturale-sociale e il volontariato per comunità giovanile e il suo allineamento agli obiettivi dell’Agenda 2030 dell’UE.
La missione di SYL è sostenere e aumentare il livello di istruzione dei giovani di diversi gruppi sociali, aiutare i giovani a raggiungere i loro obiettivi, unire i giovani attivi e creare condizioni migliori per i loro scambio di esperienze e conoscenze. Il gruppo target è giovani dai 13 ai 45 anni. Il lavoro di squadra è la chiave del successo di Support Youth Leaders, amplia la sua rete di contatti e di partenariato internazionale creando una vera e propria rete di collaborazione. Come organizzazione per l’invio, la ricezione e l’hosting, SYL ha l’esperienza di leadership nel pilotaggio e ampliare le azioni con la società civile e il settore giovanile in tutto il Mediterraneo (Young Arab Voices /Giovani Voci Mediterranee; Euromed; Erasmus+ Corsi di Formazione e Scambi Giovanili, Virtual Scambio; Scambi giovanili del Rotary, lavoro e viaggi e programmi internazionali) con una comprovata esperienza record di progettazione e gestione di progetti e responsabilità di miglioramento, sono posizionato per, superare di gran lunga le tue aspettative per questo ruolo e apportare benefici sostanziali all’organizzazione. I membri di SYL hanno precedenti esperienze nel programma Youth in Action, Erasmus Plus, Euro-Med Program, e USAID, programmi di Anna Linda come partecipanti e personale di supporto della Fondazione. Support Youth Leaders (SYL) is an organization established to support and develop activities at the local, national, and international levels through non-formal inclusion methodologies. It utilizes leisure time, cultural-social practices, and volunteering for the youth community, aligning them with the objectives of the EU’s Agenda 2030.

SYL’s mission is to elevate the level of education for young people from various social groups, assist them in achieving their goals, bring active youth together, and create better conditions for their exchange of experiences and knowledge. The target group ranges from 13 to 45 years old. Teamwork is the key to Support Youth Leaders’ success. They expand their network of contacts and international partnerships, creating a true collaborative network.

As an organization involved in sending, receiving, and hosting, SYL has leadership experience in piloting and expanding actions with civil society and the youth sector throughout the Mediterranean (Young Arab Voices/Mediterranean Youth Voices; Euromed; Erasmus+ Training Courses and Youth Exchanges, Virtual Exchange; Rotary Youth Exchanges, work and travel, and international programs) with a proven track record in project design and management and responsibility for improvement. I am positioned to far exceed your expectations for this role and bring substantial benefits to the organization.

Members of SYL have previous experience in programs such as Youth in Action, Erasmus Plus, Euro-Med Program, and USAID, both as participants and support staff of the Foundation. Nearly 80% of SYL members are part of a United Nations volunteer group. Moreover, 75% of their participants have joined and continue to support the HeForShe campaign.

From what can be inferred, the Jordanian partner will be a strong asset in terms of project dissemination and network. Especially in the follow-up phase to guide and “incubate” participants in virtuous circuits of collaborations or orientation towards the digital job market.

MEDITERRANEAN YOUTH FOUNDATION FOR DEVELOPMENT

Mediterranean Youth Foundation for Development MYF, la prima fondazione giovanile orientata ai paesi del Mediterraneo, viene fondata nella Repubblica Araba d’Egitto e guidata da giovani per i giovani. Ciò si ottiene rendendoli partecipi della vita sociale, soprattutto di quelli con minori opportunità, con l’obiettivo di rafforzare la loro partecipazione alla costruzione di società a misura di giovani. Inoltre, MYF è la prima fondazione egiziana a vincere il King Hamad Award for Youth Empowerment to Achieve Development Goals, Youth Empowerment Category per il 2020. La mission di MYF per rafforzare la cooperazione culturale e giovanile tra i Paesi che si affacciano sul Mar Mediterraneo e quelli limitrofi attraverso programmi di scambio culturale con l’obiettivo di responsabilizzazione, comunicazione e costruzione della pace.
Obiettivi MYF:

• Promuovere la cooperazione culturale tra il Mediterraneo ei paesi vicini neighboring
• Costruire la capacità dei giovani di stare al passo con lo sviluppo e affrontare le sfide globali (tecnologiche, ambientali e climatiche)
• Contribuire al raggiungimento e alla promozione del quarto, quinto, sesto, ottavo, decimo, tredicesimo, sedicesimo e diciassettesimo SDG
• Migliorare la partecipazione dei giovani per raggiungere la pace e la sicurezza
• Incoraggiare i giovani con minori opportunità di partecipare alla vita sociale
• Dare potere alle giovani donne nelle società emarginate e aiutarle a superare i confini.

L’organizzazione MYF sarà un ottimo partner soprattutto per lo scambio di buone pratiche soprattutto durante i “Meeting Caffè Virtuali Internazionali. MYB lavora infatti ad un progetto di Incubatore di giovani del Mediterraneo offrendo spazio per la creatività intellettuale e la generazione di idee e una guida alla creazione e incoraggia le ragazze ad avviare startup in una fase iniziale di attuazione fornendo servizi di orientamento e capitale di investimento per avviare inoltre le loro imprese di costruzione per seguire il loro piano di lavoro e monitorare i loro progressi attraverso campi di formazione e opportunità di rete con imprenditori in Europa. Inoltre, ha all’interno team di esperti in ambito digitale che saranno impiegati nel supporto della realizzazione e manutenzione della piattaforma, nella creazione delle video lezione e al loro upload.

The Mediterranean Youth Foundation for Development (MYF), the first youth foundation focused on Mediterranean countries, was founded in the Arab Republic of Egypt and is led by young people to serve young people. This is achieved by involving them in social life, especially those with fewer opportunities, with the aim of strengthening their participation in building youth-friendly societies. Additionally, MYF is the first Egyptian foundation to win the King Hamad Award for Youth Empowerment to Achieve Development Goals in the Youth Empowerment Category for 2020. MYF’s mission is to enhance cultural and youth cooperation among countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea and neighboring regions through cultural exchange programs with the goal of empowerment, communication, and peace-building.

MYF Objectives:

• Promote cultural cooperation between the Mediterranean and neighboring countries.
• Build the capacity of young people to keep up with development and address global challenges (technological, environmental, and climate-related).
• Contribute to the achievement and promotion of the fourth, fifth, sixth, eighth, tenth, thirteenth, sixteenth, and seventeenth SDGs.
• Enhance youth participation in achieving peace and security.
• Encourage young people with fewer opportunities to participate in social life.
• Empower young women in marginalized societies and help them overcome barriers.

The MYF organization will be an excellent partner, especially for the exchange of best practices, particularly during the “International Virtual Coffee Meetings.” MYF is working on a project for a Mediterranean Youth Incubator, providing space for intellectual creativity and idea generation, as well as guidance for starting and encouraging girls to launch startups in their early implementation phase by offering orientation services and investment capital to kickstart their construction businesses, following their work plan and monitoring their progress through training sessions and networking opportunities with entrepreneurs in Europe. Additionally, it has a team of experts in the digital field who will be involved in supporting the creation and maintenance of the platform, creating video lessons, and uploading them.

ARAB INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY

The Arab International University as a private Syrian university seeks to be a leader and a distinct institution in higher education and scientific research; to be a platform for the transfer of knowledge, values and traditions at the regional and international level; to apply quality-approved standards locally and globally and to draw a great deal of teaching and research interests to serve the community.

Arab International University (AIU) seeks to implement the plans and programs of study in high quality to prepare distinct graduates to meet the needs of the community. It also seeks to establish a strong core of scientific research that supports cognitive progress and participates in addressing issues of the society.

The AIU objectives’ are:

• Provide a distinctive scientific environment for faculty members and students of the university.
• Apply  permanently  updated lesson plans in line with international scientific developments.
• Provide all human, material and organisational requirements to ensure the proper functioning of the educational process.
• Develop students’ applied skills.
• Encourage academically outstanding students financially and morally.
• Select the best academic and technical educational staff to run the educational process at its best.
• Support scientific research and conduct research within specialised units, Encourage financially and morally publication in prestigious international journals.
• Give scientific research that serves the needs of society the necessary attention.
• Apply quality standards and routines through total quality management (TQM), and obtain local and international accreditation.
• Form partnership with reputable international universities, and exchange professors, students and experiences.

FARHAT HACHED INSTITUTE FOR RESEARCH AND DEMOCRACY

L’Istituto Farhat Hached per la Ricerca e la Democrazia (FHIRD) è un’organizzazione non governativa internazionale tunisina indipendente senza scopo di lucro con sede a Tunisi. È un ente accademico di ricerca che opera a livello nazionale e internazionale nei campi della ricerca, della formazione e della consulenza su tematiche legate ai media, alla democrazia e alla politica, nonché ai cambiamenti democratici. Per raggiungere i nostri obiettivi, siamo disposti a collaborare con diverse istituzioni di ricerca e scientifiche, organizzazioni governative e non governative e associazioni che mostrano interessi e specializzazioni simili alle esigenze di tali settori. Il nostro istituto pubblica studi e relazioni di ricerca, organizza corsi di formazione, conferenze e workshop aperti a esperti e cittadini comuni. L’istituto organizza e supervisiona anche un progetto di sondaggi annuali come parte del nostro impegno e contributo a facilitare il processo democratico e contribuire all’istituzione di istituzioni democratiche. Si tratta di un’iniziativa sviluppata da un gruppo di giovani attivisti della società civile, insegnanti e pensatori tunisini.

Farhat Hached Institute for Research and Democracy (FHIRD) is an independent non-profit international Tunisian NGO based in Tunis. It is an academic body of research that works at the both national and international levels in fields such as research, training, consultancy in issues of media, democracy and politics as well as democratic changes. In order to reach our goals, we are willing to work with different research and scientific bodies, governmental and non govermental organizations and associations that show similar interests and specialities according to the requirements of these domains. Our institute publishes research studies and reports, organises trainings, conferences and workshops that are open to experts and common people. The institute also organises and supervises an annual polls project as part of our attempt and contribution in facilitating the democratic process and helping in the establishment of democratic institutions.
It is an initiative developed by a group of Tunisian young civil society activists, teachers and thinkers.
