About the project

TRANSNATIONAL TRAINING – MODULE 1: Cyberbullism 2020-25 – Barcellona, Spain

The second meeting of the “soul record” project took place on Thursday 17 February in Barcelona, Spain. Written and led by “aics roma”, the project has the primary objective of preparing European youth workers to recognize and fight cyberbullying.

In the meeting on Thursday 17 February, 20 youth workers from Italy, Spain, Germany and Romania had the opportunity to address and analyze in detail the concept of cyberbullying in all its facets.

It was a long process of brainstorming and storytelling and culminated in the production of a vademecum, which will remain an important milestone for the results of this project, designed for youth workers on how to recognize and understand cyberbullying before it can lead to to irreparable consequences.

The international tram also focused on the new trends and new social platforms on which acts of cyberbullying could be perpetrated and on the effect that the covid pandemic has had on the numbers of acts of cyberbullying. This activity has produced a virtual synthetic brochure entitled “Cyberbullism 2020-25”.

Project will continue with another important event in Romania in the coming months.

Stay tuned!

On June 1, 2023, the second mobility of the Soul Record project took place in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. During this transnational activity, the three forms of combating cyberbullying were examined: prevention, identification, and defense. Prevention involves understanding the phenomenon, identifying its triggering causes, and its effects on people’s lives.

It means raising awareness in society and promoting a culture of digital citizenship. Identifying the offenders and victims (or potential victims) is a crucial step in combating cyberbullying, which often takes on characteristics of unawareness on the part of the attacker and shame on the part of the victim who often struggles to seek help. Defense against cyberbullying attacks encompasses a wide range of possibilities, from ignoring the offender to reporting to authorities, from digitally protecting oneself to seeking help from a friend or an adult figure.

The training session was based not only on the sources mentioned in module 1 and on recent successful Erasmus+ projects on the topic (e.g., “ON-LIVE: Tools against Cyberbullying” or “Spaceproject”) but also on an innovative intersectional approach aimed at differentiating the analysis of various forms of online violence (homophobia, sexism, ableism, xenophobia, etc.) against different categories of individuals (age, gender, sexual and religious orientation, socio-cultural background, etc.). This approach allowed for the examination of the different negative effects together, identifying targeted approaches in handling cases.

Participants were involved in debriefing sessions to share the documents produced for the creation of the virtual brochure titled “Contrasting Cyberbullying.”

TRANSNATIONAL TRAINING – MODULE 3: Digital Communication – “Golden Rules” Detmold (Germany)

TRANSNATIONAL TRAINING – MODULE 3: Digital Communication – “Golden Rules” Detmold (Germany)

On August 25th, in Detmold, Germany, the third international meeting of the project “SOUL RECORD” 2021-1-IT01-KA210-VET-000034511 took place.

The third module was entirely dedicated to “Media Literacy”. This opened up the field of study in the training program, supplementing the specificity of the cyberbullying theme with the broader scope of today’s dynamics in digital communication and media literacy. Discussions revolved around how digital communication, which has now reached global and constant levels of usage in everyone’s lives, especially among the youth, is increasingly characterized by rapid interaction and often insufficient attention to the sensitivity and pervasiveness of the disseminated content.

The activity resulted in the virtual brochure “Digital Communication – Golden Rules”, a PDF (approximately 10 pages) for proper digital communication.

On December 11, 2023, the fourth meeting of the Soul Record project took place in Rome. The project aimed to investigate the positive potential that “Sound Leadership,” characterized by charisma, engagement, empowerment, and respect for individuals, could bring to digital communication, especially among young people. Sixteen youth workers from Spain, Germany, Italy, and Romania participated in the meeting.

The session began with a project presentation highlighting its key milestones. Participants deepened their understanding through non-formal education activities such as “get to know each other” and “ice breaking,” setting an energetic tone for the operational phase.

Through the non-formal education activity “Shipwreck” and subsequent debriefing, participants explored the importance of sound leadership. A storytelling session allowed youth workers to share their experiences of sound leadership in digital communication. Subsequently, through brainstorming, initially in groups and later in plenary session, the definition of sound leadership in digital communication among young people was developed. Working in groups and keeping in mind the golden rules formulated in the previous meeting, participants identified practical examples of sound leadership on the web and social media, which were then shared in plenary. These activities led to the development of the first deliverable, the virtual brochure “Sound Leadership Models in Digital Communication,” available in English and translated into all consortium languages.

The afternoon was dedicated to producing the second deliverable: 8 digital narratives inspired by the theme of “sound leadership” and created following the “Golden Rules.” The day concluded with a final evaluation during which participants shared their impressions.

Thanks to the activities and the completion of the fourth and final module of the training program, youth workers further delved into the investigation of digital communication among young people, exploring the theme of “sound leadership” in depth. Throughout the day, participants were committed to disseminating the project’s results and benefits.

The meeting took place in a venue with differentiated waste management, and energy consumption was minimized during the morning by utilizing natural sunlight whenever possible.
